In this image, low-key back lighting has been used in order
to create the effect of various shadows being presented on the lady’s face.
This is evident as the right most portion of her face is shadowed whereas the
left side (from the viewer’s perspective) has been effectively lit. This means
that the light is shining from the behind, on the left side of the character.
It is evident that this image was created using the chiaroscuro effect as
well as top lighting
as there is a strong
contrast between the top of the image (the character’s face) as well as
the lower portion of the image, which is pretty much just plain black. The
reason for there being top lighting shining onto the woman’s face is in order
to draw attention to her facial expression which shows viewers her emotional
state at the time the picture was
taken.
Top lighting has been used in this photograph since there
are shadows beneath the man’s eyes which effectively show his facial
expression. The background has been blurred in order to focus the attention the
character as opposed to his surroundings.
Underlighting has effectively been used in this still as the
angle at which this photo was taken allows for some distortion to take into
place. The man is the focus of this image but viewers can still see the background
which allows for easy interpretation of the genre to be made.
Chiarascuro has also been used in this movie still since
there is a shadow reflected onto the back of this lady whereas her face &
expression is shown well to the viewers. This allows for them to understand how
she is feeling at this point in time.
The light source in this image has come from behind the lady (from the blinds) in order to create a shadow on both characters that is the same pattern as that of the blinds. This means that the lighting used is high-key backlighting as the light used is presumably natural lighting from the sun and the contrast isn't that much between light and dark.
This is an example of extreme backlighting as the shadows are much more pronounced than the characters themselves which shows that this shot is most likely an establishing shot so that viewers have an idea of the environment that the characters are in. It is low key lighting since there is a strong contrast between light and dark in this image; with the light reflecting the setting and the dark concealing the characters facial expressions whilst still highlighting their body language.
The lighting used in this still is low-key backlighting as it produces a shadow from the lady whilst still focusing on her face through the use of the back lights.

In this image, high-key underlighting has been used as there are various filler lights surrounding the protagonist in order to effectively portray the lady's emotions as well as her body posture.
It seems that the character featured in this still is the antagonist which viewers can understand due to the use of dark colours being used within the photo since there is hardly any light being shown other than behind the character. This could be interpreted as the character not being as important as his surroundings in this shot. It is therefore a very low-key underlighting example.
This image was taken in a plain setting where the focus is on both characters and is therefore high-key top lighting as the light shines from above
